Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, Minnesota’s senior senator and a former 2020 presidential contender, endorsed Jordan Grossman today for Ward 2 DC Councilmember.
“I’m proud to support Jordan Grossman, a former member of my DC staff who played a crucial role in helping us save the ACA. He will be an incredible leader for DC Ward 2 residents,” said Senator Klobuchar.
“I am honored to have the support of the most effective Democratic Senator in Congress,” said Jordan Grossman. “From securing funding for violence prevention in schools to expanding workforce development programs to enacting major ethics reform to combat sexual harassment and assault, Senator Klobuchar knows better than anyone how to get critical priorities passed into law — and that’s exactly what I’ll do on the DC Council.”
Senator Klobuchar has been a champion for working families for over a decade in the U.S. Senate, building a reputation of working across the aisle to help strengthen the economy and build a strong middle class. As a supporter of DC statehood, she was an original co-sponsor of the Washington DC Admission Act in the 116th Congress. A recent study by the Center for Effective Lawmaking found that Senator Klobuchar was the most effective Democratic senator in Congress in 2017–2018; Grossman served as her Deputy Legislative Director and lead staffer for health, education, and labor issues during this time period.
Jordan Grossman is a fifth generation DC resident and former Obama Administration, Capitol Hill, DC federal district court, and DC Medicaid official. He’s running to represent Ward 2 on the DC Council to end corruption, fight for DC statehood and equity for our schools, and make it easier for residents to afford a home, find high-quality child care, walk, bike, or take public transit, and pay off student loan debt.
