Washington, DC – Former U.S. Representative Henry Waxman, one of the most influential members of Congress, a past Chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and a Ward 2 resident, endorsed Jordan Grossman today in the Democratic Primary to represent Ward 2 on the DC Council.
“I’ve spent my career fighting to make government work better for the people — expanding access to health care, protecting clean air and water, reducing carbon emissions, and holding bad actors and special interests accountable for waste, fraud, and abuse,” said Congressman Waxman. “That is exactly the kind of representation Jordan will provide to us Ward 2 residents: he’ll not only fight for our progressive values, he’ll make sure our tax dollars are spent wisely and that DC programs and services truly make an impact on our day-to-day lives. Jordan’s experience and vision make him exactly the type of leader we need to navigate the challenging times ahead.”
The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is the main investigative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives and has jurisdiction over issues related to the District of Columbia. During his time in Congress, Congressman Waxman strongly supported DC statehood.
Jordan has also been endorsed by over a dozen local organizations, leaders, and labor unions, including those representing frontline workers of the COVID-19 crisis.
Jordan Grossman is a fifth generation DC resident and former Obama Administration, Capitol Hill, DC federal district court, and DC Medicaid official. He’s running to represent Ward 2 on the DC Council to end corruption, fight for DC statehood and equity for our schools, and make it easier for residents to afford a home, find high-quality child care, walk, bike, or take public transit, and pay off student loan debt.
